2016 at a Glance

This year has flown by and quite a lot has happened.... some good and some not so good. All in all I have to say that I have truly grown as a business woman and have matured in my personal life as well. Here's what 2016 looked like at a glance.....

I held my very first workshop in the Spring at the Paper + Craft Pantry. I was super nervous but it was a blast.

My book Crochet Taxidermy was released in August and I couldn't have been more pleased.

I also designed seven crochet DIY kits with the help of Lauren Cooke. It was a lot of work but we made it happen.

I held yet another crochet workshop at the Paper + Craft Pantry this time using my new kits. It was a success!

Pei of the Paper + Craft Pantry and a dear friend of mine was gracious enough to host a book party for me. All my close friends and family showed up and I felt so much love.

I did a new thing this year.... I had Matt video a bunch of mini tutorials for me. They are available on my IG account @nothingbutapigeon for people to refer to. They are color coded and labeled for your convenience.

The small pleasures in life include bugs, frogs, lizards and snail's that I find in the backyard.

I started a new "bug series" this year and designed these little bees along with snails and a ladybug. Hopefully I'll have time to design some more!

My neighbors and friends Joel and Mer got married and it was the most beautiful venue I've ever been to. Truly breathtaking.

Matt and I took time out to take some images of us. I love looking back at all of our pictures together. This ones a keeper!

Once again I was thrilled to be a part of the Blue Genie Art Bazaar. With the new re-vamp of my website and my book release we just had to give Nothing but a Pigeon a makeover as well.

That meant a lot of handy work for Matt. We went out and bought all new material for backdrops, shelving and new tri-folds for my "on the road" shows. He cut and measured and stained all the wood white for a more clean/modern feel. I am really happy with the outcome. We even got new logos and signs made.

Lastly, Lucy got a year older and we could really tell. She is going to be 14 years old this June and we are doing our best to enjoy her company that much more and cuddle her a little harder. She is my constant shadow and the first baby and only true baby Matt and I will ever have.  That's 2016 at a glance.... of course a lot more things happened peppered in between these major milestones. I am looking forward to 2017 and what it will brings for our little family. I'm open to new adventures and I for see a lot of change ahead...

So I'm throwing myself a little party....

I'm so excited to finally be able to celebrate the release of my very first craft book
"Crochet Taxidermy, 30 Quirky Patterns from Mouse to Moose" at the Paper + Craft Pantry hosted by my dear friend Pei Sim. Sip on Mimosa's while you browse my new DIY crochet kits, new crochet taxidermy designs and of course my book, all of which will be available to purchase. I hope to see you all there!

Behind the scene photoshoot....

Lately I've been hard at work crocheting my little heart out in preparation for a HUGE upcoming photoshoot. I have over 50 taxi head designs that needed to be made in various colors, mounted and photographed for my re-branding that is currently taking place by my gal pal Lauren Cooke of
Little Skunk Co. Most of the design we are keeping under wraps until mid September when I have a book and launch party! More on that later.... As you can see the new backdrop is a white washed wood. Nothing but a Pigeon is getting a lighter more modern/minimalistic feel. I'm super excited and can't wait to share all our hard work with the world! In the meantime I thought it would be fun to share a little behind the scene action with ya'll.

This is just a few of the critters that made an appearance at the studio The Paper + Craft Pantry.

Detail shots....

A lot of the taxi heads I made multiple's of in different colors as examples. It made for a huge amount of work but I feel it will be so worth it in the end.

The photoshoot lasted a little over 3 days and there's still more work that needs to be done. Some little critters didn't make the cut so I have to go back and re-work them and try to capture a better image of them later on down the road.

Here's some popular critter combinations....

That's about all I can share with the world as of right now. The book/launch party will take place Sunday September 18th at The Paper + Craft Pantry. I will be featuring/selling my new book as well as the new crochet DIY kits that I've designed. We will be showing off my new logo and website and even have swag bags full of goodies. There will be some sips and eats as well, basically I just want to celebrate all my hard work over the last year with some good friends and enjoy life for a bit before I dive into the Holiday madness. Hope you all enjoyed this little sneaky peeky.

xoxo
